Monkey Monkey Moo!

Monkey Monkey Moo!
Shall we buy a few?
Yellow monkeys,
Purple monkeys,
Monkeys red and blue.

Be a monkey, do!
Who's a monkey, who?
He's a monkey,
She's a monkey,
You're a monkey, too!

-1949, Marion Edey and Dorothy Grider

When my daughter was about 6 or 7,
we memorized this poem together.
'Twas fun!

  1. In 1967, Susie Brown & I were in School #53. We found a book of poems & this one popped out at us as being hilarious. Through the next year or two, we would suddenly break out in unison with this poem.
It’s been over 50 years, but wherever you are, Susie, I’d like you to know that now my 18 month old grandson asks for “mo’ Moo!”.
    Who would have thought….❤️
